Wow!, great post dearest Homa.

Many thanks for posting such a nice bridge. I already forgot about these nice places we possess in Iran.
The Si-o-Seh Pol also called the Allah-Verdi Khan Bridge, is one of the eleven bridges of Esfahan. It is highly ranked as being one of the most famous examples of Safavie bridge design.

Commissioned in 1602 by Shah Abbas Safavi from his chancellor Allahverdi Khan. It consists of two layers of 33 arches. There is a larger base plank at the start of the bridge where the Zayandeh River flows under it, with a mounted tea house there. It is really lovely place at evenings!

The bridge itself is 295m long and 13.75m wide. The southern side of the bridge, where the waters of the Zayandeh run more swiftly has supplementary arches, and it is this that makes them suitable as a tea house. The bridge acted as a springboard for the development of the Khajou Bridge some 50 years later.

I have explained about my absence in our blog. Well Esfahan a place that you know how much I love. It has Iran’s sense of history to the greatest degree. And the tea house under the bridge, where I used go regularly while I was living in Esfahan, I had a feeling of relaxation that I had never experienced afterwards.
cheers
